Governor Alfred Nganga Mutua who doubles as Maendeleo Chap Chap Party leader was born in a rural village in Masii, Mwala Sub-County on 22nd August, 1970.He was however raised up in Makina area of Kibera, Nairobi where he joined various education centres. He is the first born in a family of two, his sister is Ann Mutua.Dr. Alfred Mutua served under President Kibaki’s 2002 NARC government as the first Kenyan Official Spokesperson and Public Communication Secretary known to many as Government Spokesman.He held his position until September 2012 where he resigned to vie for Machakos gubernitorial seat.
Mutua enrolled to Dagoretti High School in Nairobi for his O’ levels.Thereafter, he joined Whitworth College in U.S.A for his undergraduate Degree in B.A Journalism.He then proceeded to Eastern Washington University for his Masters of Science in Communication.Governor Mutua is also a graduate at University of Western Sydney, Australia with a Doctorate in Communication and Media.

The Chap Chap leader served as an Assistant Professor in the College of Communication and Media Sciences, Zayed University in Dubai before he was appointed by President Kibaki the Government Spokesperson.In the Dubai college he conducted extensive research on the use of “Media for Democracy and Development.”
In 2013 polls, he contested for Machakos gubernatorial seat on Wiper Party ticket and won by a landslide against his closest competitor Hon. Wavinya Ndeti, the former MP for Kathiani (now split into Kathiani represented by Hon. Robert Mbui and Mavoko constituency by Hon. Patrick Makau).
He became a Super Governor during his first term in office following his numerous successful projects including construction of Machakos People’s Park, road tarmacking and water projects ,Masaku 7s among others placing the county at the top countywide.
In 2017 polls, he reinstated his seat using his newly formed Maendeleo Chap Chap Party, MCCP.He was closely followed by Wiper Party candidate and Chama Cha Uzalendo, CCU party leader Hon. Wavinya Ndeti.

Dr. Alfred Mutua got married to his first wife, Josephine Thitu Maundu and were blessed with three children now residing in Australia.He thereafter married Lilian Nganga, the Machakos County First Lady.
