The Kitui County Governor Charity Ngilu on Tuesday, April 17, signed a Memorundum of Understanding partnering the County Government of Kitui and the University of Nairobi.
The county government entered the partnership that seeks to move for the development of a Spatial Plan for Kitui County and was signed by the varsity’s Vice Chancellor,Prof Peter Mbithi.
Speaking during the signing ceremony, the Vice Chancellor said that the institution is ready to give full support to Kitui, with the diverse wealth of expertise possessed in the university.
Governor Ngilu said Kitui County is very rich in minerals and other resources and the MoU will help bring professionalism and specialization which will bring out the best output of every project.
“For development to be achieved, you need Four factors: land, labour, Capital, technology and Leadership, and we have all the factors in Kitui” Ngilu said.
She further said that the signing of the MoU signifies the development of a well structured way on how to develop the County with full utilization of its professionals.
Governor Ngilu was accompanied by, Acting County Secretary Alex Kimanzi, ministers for Lands, infrastructure, Housing and Urban Development Engineer Jacob Kakundi, John Makau of Environment, the Legal advisor Rachael Osendo and the Head of Manifesto Implementation Unit Mr Nene Nzyuko.
